My Thoughts
I started this post a week before Steve jobs passed away. Needless to say, my focus changed and I decided to take some time and accumulate my thoughts on his passing.
I was introduced to the Apple IIe in high school. I even convinced my parents to purchase one. It was awesome and I loved it. But in 1984, Apple introduced the Macintosh, and my fickle heart was smitten.
In college, I majored in graphic design and was finally able to get my hands on a Macintosh (in the computer lab), and my love affair grew. The Mac was a graphic designer’s dream. Looking back, the font list and application list was rather short compared to what’s available now, but in the mid to late eighties, it was a beautiful thing. It still is.
Thank you, Steve Jobs, for instilling in me a love of typography and all things Mac related. As a graphic designer, the Mac has been my friend and my tool of choice (both at work and at home) for over twenty years. Thank you for your pursuit of quality, innovation and your passion. It’s inspiring.
